What Would Shackleton Do?

These hurricanes in America's southeastern states, makes one think, What would Shackleton do?


  • Ahead of impending disaster, Shackleton prepared as much as possible. He made very detailed plans.

  • Every crew member had a specific assignment and Shackleton held drills repeatedly. For example, Wordie's job was to gather the pots and pans in his tent and place them in the back third of the James Caird lifeboat.

  • When disaster struck, Shackleton called his team together so everyone would hear the same information directly from him.

  • Throughout the ordeal, Shackleton maintained a positive attitude.
