Two hundred and fifty years ago today, Dr. Joseph Warren asked Paul Revere to ride to Lexington to see Sam Adams and John Hancock. His mission was to tell them to move the armaments that were concealed in Concord. The British were planning to impound their supplies.


On Revere's way home, he stopped in Charlestown to arrange a signal - in case he couldn't get across the river in the future to raise the alarm about British troop movements - he would have lanterns hung in the "North Church Steeple... one if by land; two if by sea."
