Lessons from Shackleton:

Co-opt your rivals - engage them - ask for their help and input. Hurley did the best work of his life on the Endurance expedition.

Here's an example from photographer Frank Hurley's journal:

"During the evening, I took a series of pictures of our ignominious position.  We were all fervently thankful when the pressure was relieved again, at 9 p.m., and allowed us once more to regain an even keel."
