Macklin: A Visit to "Dump Camp"

Alexander Macklin's Journal - December 3, 1915

Ed. note: The journal Dr. Macklin kept aboard Endurance went down with the ship to his great sorrow and mine.

"This morning 4 dog teams went down to "Dump Camp" and brought up a good deal of the useful clothing, jerseys, blankets, etc. which had been dumped there. I did not take my team, but I accompanied Hurley on his sledge. On the way out his trace broke and all the dogs went off ahead "en masse" but fortunately we succeeded in catching them. There has not been much change there in the last few days.

...This afternoon I spent making a case of Burberry material for this diary, to bring which safely home I am going to make every effort."
