George Washington's 1748 Journey

Shortly after George Washington turned 16, he was presented with an opportunity to go on what turned out to be a life-shaping journey. Along with a team of surveyors, he spent a month exploring what was then America's frontier.

As you'll see, Washington kept a journal of his journey, apparently prodded by his brother.

On this journey, Washington learned the territory and made valuable connections which led to further adventures.
