When my grandfather (FBM) returned from WWI, he went to see his old boss, real estate magnate, Charles F. Noyes in lower Manhattan.

FBM didn't get the response he probably wanted to hear - "When do you want to start?" Instead he got a full blast of excellent career advice from his mentor.
