“Sarcophagi” on the ice

Worsley's Journal

     .7th night .

It is now 8:20 p.m. and I have just finished all my days work and am sitting up comfortably writing in reindeer skin bag.  There were 18 of these which we drew lots for and I was lucky enough to get one.  The others who have blanket sleeping bags, however, have extra clothes to compensate them and most consider they are better off than we “aneurisms” with “sarcophagi” as Greenstreet calls the reindeer bags.  They certainly have that appearance and shape and colour as the cured skin is outside and the effect is heightened by seeing the inmate lying asleep with only his face showing.

NOTE: It's been a while since I have looked at the Endurance journals so now they seem very fresh to me. I hope you're enjoying them as much as I am. I love how the different personalities shine through their journal entries.
