"rady for the march"

Harry McNeish Journal, October 28, 1915

"we have everything about rady for the march which is 270 miles to the nearest known land over very rough floes as it is all knocked up with the pressure the ice has cut clean through the ship so she has had a short career"

NOTE: It's wonderful how vividly personalities blast through 100-year-old journal entries. McNeish wasn't known for his cheerful optimism but he was an excellent carpenter - he never measured anything - and in decking over the James Caird made an invaluable contribution to the group's survival.
