"Never give up hope."

When Shackleton finally got back to London in mid-1917, he was asked to speak at a boy's school. He couldn't make it but he wrote back and said, “The only message I can think of for your boys is: in trouble, danger and disappointment never give up hope. The worst always can be got over.”

He certainly knew what he was talking about.
