Conversation between Dr. Macklin and Shackleton biographer, James Fisher, Aberdeen, March 1956

James Fisher: "What is emerging so very much from our study is that he is a much greater personality and even more remarkable leader that any of his work gives him credit to be - a man of fantastic calibre."

James Fisher lived with the Shackleton family in London while he and his Oxford professor wife, Margery, were working on their biography of Shackleton. The Fishers interviewed all the living members of Shackleton's expeditions. Their book, Shackleton, is a wonderful resource for Shackleton scholars.
