105 years ago today, Shackleton, Worsley and Crean were close to achieving the impossible. In biting cold, they crossed the ice-clad mountains and crevasse-wracked glaciers of South Georgia - 30 miles in 36 hours.
Shackleton allowed Worsley and Crean to sleep for 5 minutes as he stood watch. He later said, it was the thought of the men back on Elephant Island that kept them going. #Leadership
