Assembling a Great Team

Shackleton once recalled what a London theatrical manager told him about the challenge of forming a repertory company: “Character and temperament mattered quite as much as acting ability.”

“Just my problem,” Shackleton responded. “I have to balance my types, too, and their science or seamanship weighed little against the kind of chaps they were.”

Lesson: Start with a solid core of workers you know from past jobs or who come recommended by trusted colleagues.
